Polishing WallArt

Nailed It ;)

You see all these post using old cool frames,  I can never find any old cool frames!!!  So luckily Michael's sells some pretty nifty frames made out of some thin wood.  They have a couple different styles and it comes in different sizes.  But hey don't forget to either print your Michael's coupon or down load the app for your smart phone so you can save on this buy.

This is the larger size frame and it sells for about 7.99, luckily the week I went shopping they had a 50 percent off coupon on regular priced items.  The normal coupon is 40 percent which isn't bad.

So then I had my husband help with cutting the shelving for the frame.  But hey if you don't have one of those (husband) or no saws around the house don't fret, just take your measurements to Lowes or Home Depot.  They cut wood for us all the time when the job's too big for my husband or he isn't around to help me out.

Decide how deep you want your shelves to go, that will give you the depth.  I use 2 by 1 for this, my husband said it would of looked better if we went with a thinner wood (that would be the 1 part) but  I think it looks good.  So you measure your height, you want it to go all the way from top to bottom on the inside of decorative section, you will need 2 pieces that size.

Then measure the inside, you will need 4 pieces for that.  So first make a box then space out the two pieces left for shelves.  Make sense??

So I didn't want the nail polish falling off the shelves, so I wanted a rod going across each shelf.  I picked one up at Michael's when I bought  the frame.  So I used a drill bit same size as rod and measure in 1/2 inch (you can decide where you would like the rod out or in but make sure it's same for all shelves).  Slid rod through holes and cut off excess with a hex saw,  repeating for each shelf.

I used gorilla glue to glue frame to shelf, but any kind of epoxy super strength glue will due.  Let it dry and then paint.   Once paint dried we added a picture frame hanger to back of shelf to make hanging easier.

You could add a back if you want, but the wall is backing enough for me.  Hang and add your nail polish.  I have 2 teenage daughters, so lots of polish in my house.  This is now up in there bathroom.  I think it turned out cute and less clutter, plus if you have little ones it takes it out of their reach. :)
