Polishing WallArt

Nailed It ;)

You see all these post using old cool frames,  I can never find any old cool frames!!!  So luckily Michael's sells some pretty nifty frames made out of some thin wood.  They have a couple different styles and it comes in different sizes.  But hey don't forget to either print your Michael's coupon or down load the app for your smart phone so you can save on this buy.

This is the larger size frame and it sells for about 7.99, luckily the week I went shopping they had a 50 percent off coupon on regular priced items.  The normal coupon is 40 percent which isn't bad.

So then I had my husband help with cutting the shelving for the frame.  But hey if you don't have one of those (husband) or no saws around the house don't fret, just take your measurements to Lowes or Home Depot.  They cut wood for us all the time when the job's too big for my husband or he isn't around to help me out.

Decide how deep you want your shelves to go, that will give you the depth.  I use 2 by 1 for this, my husband said it would of looked better if we went with a thinner wood (that would be the 1 part) but  I think it looks good.  So you measure your height, you want it to go all the way from top to bottom on the inside of decorative section, you will need 2 pieces that size.

Then measure the inside, you will need 4 pieces for that.  So first make a box then space out the two pieces left for shelves.  Make sense??

So I didn't want the nail polish falling off the shelves, so I wanted a rod going across each shelf.  I picked one up at Michael's when I bought  the frame.  So I used a drill bit same size as rod and measure in 1/2 inch (you can decide where you would like the rod out or in but make sure it's same for all shelves).  Slid rod through holes and cut off excess with a hex saw,  repeating for each shelf.

I used gorilla glue to glue frame to shelf, but any kind of epoxy super strength glue will due.  Let it dry and then paint.   Once paint dried we added a picture frame hanger to back of shelf to make hanging easier.

You could add a back if you want, but the wall is backing enough for me.  Hang and add your nail polish.  I have 2 teenage daughters, so lots of polish in my house.  This is now up in there bathroom.  I think it turned out cute and less clutter, plus if you have little ones it takes it out of their reach. :)

The Great Fridge Make Over

Before

Before I came down with this super ear infection, I had a vote set up on a few designs on my facebook page for the new vinyl I would be placing on my fridge.

And The winner is (drum roll please.....)
Silhouette Bless the Food Design
So what I did was I ungrouped the design and copied the Amen.  Then I pasted the Amen on the side a few times.  Then I sheared off the start of it in a few different spots and flipped some to add some design to the other side of the fridge.

I also bought this cool keep your fridge clean thingies called Fridge Coasters.  You can find them here http://fridgecoaster.com/

So I cleaned out the fridge and placed them.  I actually need a few more, I ordered the fridge kits which for my fridge probably wasn't the best idea as most my shelves are the same size as the large bins and some of my shelves are still bare :(  However they are interesting and since I can not find any orange detailed contact paper I like to do a pinterest interior make over  I will just order some more bins in different designs.  They absorb excess moisture in your fridge and say they help extend the life of your produce and it's also super cute too.

Dishwasher Magnet

I seen them before and thought yep that would help. ..however buying one never really happened.  Silhouette Studios had a pattern and I bought it, simple clean/dirty. What else do you need?

Well I got to thinking I have all these old cd roms laying around wouldn't that be good paint it and put a magnet on the back and some vinyl on the front and Bam! Home made magnet to help with the dishes. So I made it, it's kind of plain and blah. So looking at it I got this crazy idea!!!

What if I paint a disc black to look like a record and pick a song for clean and another song for dirty.

So Luke Bryan just came to town and I have Play it Again stuck in my head....isn't that just perfect for Run the dishwasher??? Well I thought so... and to get the dishwasher empty because it's clean hmmmm. How about Shut it Down??? Also a Luke Bryan song....

I originally had this knob and it was sticking out...but I thought flip it over and it looks like its on a record player. You could also use a flat screw instead and that would be cheaper. (I already had the knob and it was flat. I used clear drying glue and glued the magnet on the back on top of the knob (or screw if that's what you end up using)

Now just flip it to track A or B to indicate the action that needs to be taken. You could do this with a number of different artist/ songs.

Yes I decal my dishwasher too :)

My Blah ceiling fan

I really lack in patience as you can tell from my before photo.  I already started disassembling the fan before I remembered, TAKE THE BEFORE Picture.  DUH.  Well you get the idea, it's plain and white and I would love to replace it however that isn't an option right now.  So I went through my Silhouette files  and found a chevron card.

After removing the blade I measured it's width and then adjusted the chevron to fit.  I used scrap pieces of vinyl I had left over from other projects,  I wanted it to be colorful so I pick out a few different scraps that would be big enough for the cut..

I cut and weeded and transferred and voila
Instant transformation!!!  I know chevron is big and I am also kind of drawn to it.  But is it just me or does anyone else think about Charlie Brown when they look at it????  Don't get me wrong I loved me some Charlie Brown growing up but it so does remind me of him.

Anyway the sky is the limit, you could do flowers, or polka dots, trains, animals, cars, you name it.  Find that Silhouette file and transform your Blah fan too.
